Radium-Dry Gulch

Phase I: Radium to Dry Gulch

Old Coach Trail Phase IThe Columbia River Greenways Alliance has been working for several years with the Ministry of Environment and with the Regional District of East Kootenay to establish an 8km non- motorized trail to connect the communities of Dry Gulch and Radium Hot Springs. The Old Coach Greenway offers outstanding views of the Columbia Wetlands National Wildlife Area, which is part of one of the longest contiguous wetland systems in North America. Natural hoodoos are visible from the trail, and it passes through grasslands which are habitat to ungulates such as Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep. In the next phases of work, CRGA plans to extend this trail another 10 kms, to connect Invermere to Radium. Possible routes are through the Kinbasket reserve, including Eagle Ranch golf course, as well as a bridge connecting structure to connect the trail to Athalmer.
