TRAIL AMBASSADOR

The Columbia Valley Greenways Trail Alliance, a registered charity, is building the Westside Legacy Trail – a world-class recreational asset for the Columbia Valley.  We are looking for a Trail Ambassador during summer 2018 to promote the trail, engage users to enhance their overall trail experience and provide orientation and educational information about area history and how the trail came to be.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Act as an ambassador for the trail using community, providing visitors with information regarding the trail, local businesses and other amenities
  • Will be based mostly outdoors, actively engaging all trail users
  • Take pictures and create social media posts to share stories of trail users
  • Educate users regarding trail amenities, segments and facilities
  • Assist with the co-ordination and execution of fundraising/community events
  • Maintain trail cameras and counters including tabulating monthly results
  • Represent Greenways and the Westside Legacy Trail in a positive, professional manner at all times

Position Qualifications:

        

  • Outgoing and diplomatic personality with leadership skills and the ability to develop relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and world views
  • Ability to walk or ride 10-20 kilometers/day over varied terrain in all weather conditions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, demonstrates initiative, ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of, or willing to learn about local history, environment and local communities
  • Enrollment in a post-secondary program in Tourism, Hospitality, Event Management, or a related field
  • Valid drivers license and own transportation
  • Current First Aid is an asset
